CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025: Driving Punjab Toward a Greener Future
If you’re keeping an eye on green transport initiatives in Pakistan, the CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 stands out as a transformative and inclusive project. Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, this scheme aims to modernize urban transport, reduce emissions, and create economic opportunities—especially for youth and women.
What is the CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme?
The Punjab government has announced a pilot project of 1,100 electric taxis, to be rolled out in August 2025. These e-taxis will be available on easy, interest-free instalments, making them accessible to a wide range of citizens.
The scheme is being managed by the Punjab Transport Department, while the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is developing an online portal for applications and registrations.
Key Features of the E-Taxi Scheme
✅ 1,100 Electric Taxis in Pilot Phase
The initial phase includes 1,100 electric vehicles, with 1,000 for fleet operators and 100 for individual drivers.
✅ Women’s Quota
A special quota of 30 electric taxis has been reserved for women, supporting gender inclusion and promoting safer public transport.
✅ Interest-Free Financing
Applicants will only repay the principal amount in monthly instalments. The Punjab government will cover all markup, token tax, and registration fees.
✅ Solar-Powered Charging Stations
To ensure sustainability, solar-powered charging stations will be established—starting in Lahore and expanding province-wide.
✅ Local Vehicle Supply & Maintenance Support
Nine vendors have been shortlisted to provide locally assembled electric vehicles. Each vehicle will be backed by vendor-supported service centres across Punjab.
Who Can Apply?
The scheme targets both individual drivers and fleet owners. While the full eligibility criteria and FAQs will be available on the official portal upon launch, here are some initial guidelines:
- Must be a Punjab resident
- Valid CNIC and LTV/PSV driving licence (for taxi use)
- Unemployed youth and women will be given preference for individual allotments
- Fleet owners can apply for a minimum of 10 vehicles (up to 1,000 allotted)
- 100 e-taxis are allocated to individual drivers, with 30 reserved for women
Vehicle Details & Range
The vehicles will likely include locally assembled electric sedans and hatchbacks, such as the Honri VC series, offering a range of 200–300 km per charge—ideal for city travel and ride-hailing services.
